Adapt the functionalities to the users’s needs
Allow users to find information on art workshops.
Allow art workshops owners to share information on classes and events.
Lead UX designer and UX researcher on the creation of the prototype of the app.
The initial project envisionned a solution for both art workshops and galleries.
I created two surveys, one for the first group of users who are looking for a workshop or a gallery, and a second one for the workshop and gallery owners. This helped me highlight the pain points.
I realized during the user research that the solution should focus on either the art workshops or the galleries as they have very different expectations.
With all the information collected I created a persona for each group and their user journeys.
I conducted in parallel a competitive audit to see 4 existing solutions and highlight missing funcionalitites.
I created two user journey map to better understand the user's accesibility and feelings towards the solution.

I started to work on the app version following the Mobile first design approach (progressive enhancement).
Design follows the user research findings, being modern and minimalist. The homepage focuses on the venue search using very simple menus and cards elements to be able to see all information quickly.
I prioritized clear lists with simple cards and the hability to switch between map and list view so the user was not limited to one view.

I conducted another round of unmoderated usability study (5 people) on the high-fidelity mockups to improve the design as shown below.
I came up with possible next steps for the project:
Create a usability study for each type of users. For example focus on creating a venue and an event. Or focus on registering to an event or a class. It can also be on the payment section.
I would consider new features such as:
Newsletter
Articles
Analytic insights
Create different modes, for example dark and normal.
As a cross platform solution, I learned how to create design for the smallest screens (mobile-first) and progressively enhance the experience for larger devices.
I was able to master more advanced funcionalities on figma.
My 10 years experience as a Business Analyst and my sensibility to art helped me conduct better research and understand how to adapt the needs of the art world. I was able to come up with a very structured and easy to modify solution.
